My Gazebo

Do you think my gazebo is absolutely charming? I do. The most charming thing about my gazebo is that my Glen built it for me and surprised me with it! I had accompanied the youth from our church to Florida for youth camp, and this was waiting for me when I arrived home. But I didn't get to see it right away. My sweet husband met me in the driveway, grabbed my hand, made me cover my eyes and led me to this little corner in the back yard. When we got to the right spot, I was allowed to open my eyes and this is what I saw. There it was, right in the spot where the swing set was. My sweet husband disassebled our the swing set he had built for our children when they were little, and used the wood to build the gazebo. How sweet.

My ivy is winding its way through the lattice. I rooted this ivy from a cutting from my Grandparent's home in Lancaster, South Carolina. Many a happy Sunday afternoon passed by as we gathered near the tree where this ivy grew.

The gazebo is flanked by two lilac plants. One is blooming this year. The lilacs are perrenial favorites at our home. They are from Glen's Grandmother's home on Long Island, New York. This year they are beautiful and particularly fragrant.
